For Valentines I got a few lovely lush items. One being lust bar soap.
I broke off a bit and tried it in the shower but I found it to be too drying. I saw on pinterest a few pins of making your own liquid hand soap. I thought I would give it a try.
It took hardly any time.
Homemade Liquid Hand Soap
one bar of soap
8 cups of water
8 cups of water
First, heat the water in a pot, just long enough to steam:
Tips:
Just use one cup of water for every ounce of soap. ( for smaller or larger batches)
What You Need for Homemade liquid hand soap
- A bar of soap
- A grater
- Water
- A sauce pan or pot
- Empty soap dispensers or storage condtainers ( I used mason jars)
· · Turn off the heat, and add the soap. Stir to melt the soap.
· · Allow the mixture to cool for at least 15 minutes. Then, stir again. At this point, the soap should be slightly thicker.
· · Allow to cool for another several hours ( I waited 4 hours)
· · Stir to check the consistency. If it seems too waterly, reheat and add more soap. If it seems too thick; reheat and add more water.
· Then, pour your soap into dispensers, and enjoy :)
Why I like making homemade liquid hand soap:
It took hardly any time.
Re-purposing a product I loved the smell of and hated the thought of throwing out
saving a ton of money ( I got three mason jars of soap out of one small bar!)
